The most important thing you need to know about the Netherlands is that beer is cheap. Like, really cheap. I just bought a six pack of Le Trappiste Witte Bier, (about $20 in Aus) and it was $5 EU. FIVE EURO! It is literally cheaper to drink good beer here than softdrink, water or wine.
The other interesting this about europe is that when we go to restaurants or are at people houses and guests, when we ask for water, we get very odd looks. People here drink beer, wine or coffee. That is pretty much it.
So we've had a look around an ancient castle, which is part arsenal and part art gallery, i took a couple of snaps. We also had a shower is the worlds most technologically advanced shower at a friends house. It had 17 jets, a light, a sauna built in, seating for two and a radio! That was a laugh, I'll tell you that.
That'll do for now, talk to you suckas in a few days.

Facebook has become irrelavant...awesome blog guys!!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the last three installments... yikes. I would like to clear up so many errors but I am literally lost in trying to remember all that I just read.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I did want to point out was that not only was adam telling Amleto to give me more shots on the first dinner in Italy, but that I was quite proficient at saying 'no' or 'enough' by then and they were just ignoring my protests. MEN!
More great adventures to come with us scaling the Dutch country side on bikes with a pack of relatives and seeing windmills and deer!
We are eating too much and drinking too much wine and beer. Like Adam pointed out, it is all they drink except coffee and carbonated water- gross.
Off to cruise around Weert - the small town that adams grandmother comes from. We are staying in a hotel that is half full of his family currently. you can't walk anywhere without running into one of them! He is downstairs drinking beer again....
Miss you all
kat
Ok no. 1 - I am extremely jealous!
ReplyDeleteNo. 2 - I just spent the morning at work reading through this so haven't done any work for the last 1.5hrs!
Ditto on Dave's #2... Gawd I love Friday afternoons with noone in the office to care :P
ReplyDeleteI am with bonnie and dave. I wasted 15 minutes reading it when I should have been working on thursday. The most awesome read. Adam you are brilliant and by the way - next time you go to italy to your family - can I PLEASE come. I loved italy. Need to see more.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could read this at work, at least it would give me something to do! Alas because I work for the Nazis (read: The QLD Government) I only have access to IE and for whatever reason whenever I open this blog IE thinks it should continuously open tabs, use all my computer memory and then I have to reboot. It must be part of the anti-fun policy.
ReplyDeleteAll that being said it is a great read and I am enjoying my weekend catch-ups. I'm also insanely jealous and now think I'll have to start saving for a European adventure of my own.
